BROOK's NEST

This is a three storey Victorian terraced house, which required complete Remodeling to accommodate a space for kitchen plus dining, a bedroom with en-suite bathroom at attic space and a nursery to meet the owner's demand.

The basement room was transformed into a larger kitchen and dinning space with shower room and utility. Obvious scarcity of natural daylight in basement was augmented by providing an appropriate light-well. However, the strict planning rules permitted only 600mm height for the light-well, which was not enough to have adequate day light. This led us to use glass flooring to the ground floor front room. Glazed panels were used in the stair instead of the traditional balustrade to improve the visual connection with the newly added basement space, which eventually added a contemporary look to the ground floor.
